Semi-Historical: This mission is based upon 91st BG, Eighth Air Force mission 18 conducted on November 9, 1942. The mission objective was to destroy the lock gates of the sub pens at St Nazaire, France. Addionally the Eighth AF wanted to know the effectiveness of low to medium altitude bombing by B-17s. The results from this mission led to the conclusion that low level B-17 bombing of sub bases was not effective.
