This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Lockheed L049 Constellation in the colors of C-121 Phoenix 6. It was built with c/n 4125 in 1953 and went to the US Navy as an R7V-1 with BuNo 131624. It was assigned to VX-6 in 1958, coded JD and named "Phoenix 6". It was used anually for Operation Deep Freeze, supply flights from New Zealand to McMurdo Sound on Antarctica between 1958 and 1971. She was put up for sale, but when there were no takers, she was scrapped in 1971.
