This folder contains two repaints for the A2A Lockheed L049 Constellation in the first colors of 43-10310 of the USAAF. C/n 1962 was the one of the first C-69's delivered to the USAAF in 1943. It started flying in TWA colors in 1944, but with its military serial. It made a record breaking flight from Burbank to Washington DC on 17 April 1944, with Howard Hughes as pilot. It was allocated to Transcontinental & Western as NC38936, but remained on the USAAF inventory until 1947. It was then used for spares, but rebuilt in 1952 for Intercontinent Airways. It was written off after it caught fire in a belly landing at Burbank during a training flight.
Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paint kit by A2A.
