This is the A2A Wings of Power 3 Spitfire Ia painted as R6981 flown by Flying Officer (later Air Commodore) Alan Deere during July & August 1940. Deere was shot down and baled out of this aircraft on 15th August 1940. After losing three Spitfires all called 'Kiwi' he decided to stop putting the name on his aircraft - the rest, as they say, is history.
This is effectively the same skin as my earlier effort for Mk IIa P7350 of the RAF Memorial Flight - just duller and dirtier with the underwing roundels removed and a new serial number, all courtesy of the splendid paint kit supplied by A2A.
