This is a repaint of the Aeroplane Heaven Republic P-47D to represent P-47D-30-RE 44-20978 'Torrid Tessie/Philadelphia Filly' of the 346th Fighter Squadron, 350th Fighter Group, 9th AAF, based at Pisa, Italy in the spring of 1945 and flown by Major Charles Gilbert. The aircraft was lost to ground fire on 27th April 1945 while on an armed reconnaissance mission over northern Italy, the pilot, Lt. Homer St. Onge, survived and was returned to his unit. Note that the Aeroplane Heaven P-47D is a Block 25 so there are some inaccuracies in this representation.
