AF=Midway Project USN and IJN CV Package 2024-05-07

No permission to download
AF=Midway Project USN and IJN CV Package.

This package includes;

USN: CV-5 USS Yorktown, CV-6 USS Enterprise and CV-8 USS Hornet
IJN: Akagi, Hiryu, Kaga and Soryu

All MDL's are stock from Microsoft, all modifications by Pen32Win

Features:
New Flight Deck Textures, I have painted all 7 CV's as close to the actual decks as I could working from photos and several paintings. The Kido Butai CV's look pretty fresh as they were refitted after their Far East Operations. Big-E and Yorktown are in their light blue scheme still. A Minor difference between them but enough to notice from the air. Hornet is in her Dark Blue scheme which she aquired for the Doolittle Raid. After the raid the twin stripes down the deck's port side the B-25's used as guides were painted over, but you can still see faint traces of them.

The DP's have been change drastically. You can no longer sink a CV with just a couple of bombs or torpedoes, you'll have to work at it much harder.

Why? Well let's look at a few facts. To sink the Yorktown it took, 3 250Kg Bombs, one of which exploded in the stack, two ariel torpedos, two submarine launched torpedoes, another sub torpedo the blew up DD-412 USS Hammann which was along side her and then 8 to 12 of Hammann's Depth Charges exploded within 100 Yards of her, and she still stayed afloat for more than 12 Hours. All of this after being nearly sunk at Coral Sea!!!
In the case of the IJN CV's yes they were sunk or forced to be scuttled by just a few bomb hits, BUT! They had left dozens of 800Kg Bombs laying around in the hangar deck, fuel lines full on deck and a deck load of aircraft fueled and armed ready to launch when they were hit. A monkey with a couple of handgrenades could have turned them into burned out hulks...
That's why I made them so tuff. When you fly the AF=Midway Project missions you'll have to damage them, not outright sink them. The DP's also have been altered so the AA guns aboard the ships can be destroyed. They support, Large Bow Wakes, Oil Slicks and the IJN CV's use the Wind Marker Effect as well as all of the know fixes for the USN CV's. A full Effects package will follow.

Installation:
Un-Zip to your desktop or a temp folder. This will create a folder called "AF=MIDWAY CVs". Inside are 7 Folders you place inside of your "SHIPS" folder. That's it. If you want to change some of your old missions to use these just put in these names for the stock name:

AF_SHA_ENTERPRISE_CV-6
AF_SHA_HORNET_CV-8
AF_SHA_YORKTOWN_CV-5
AF_SHJ_AKAGI
AF_SHJ_HIRYU
AF_SHJ_KAGA
AF_SHJ_SORYU

Have fun with the new toys, more on the way.

AF=Midway Project Credits:
The number of people involved directly or indirectly is huge, truly a community effort. There is no way we could complete the project without the work of the following individuals and groups. I am thankful for all of them and their works. I sure hope I don't miss anyone. If I do, I will correct it ASAP.
