Skin for Aeroplane Heaven's great Me109E, flown by Ofw Franz Jaenisch, of 3./JG2, Beaumort-le-Roger, Summer 1940 Includes damage textures and a new pilot texture in a grey flying suit and a faded yellow life vest.
The photograh I used indicated the hand applied dappled fuselage paint typical of JG2 through 1940. Oddly, with the the E7 model replacing the earlier E's toward the end of 1940, the dopple finish disapeared, never to be used again.
Franz Jaenish served with 3./J88 in Spain as the wingman for Werner Moelders. His personal "Mickey Mouse" badge was also used in that conflict. Very little biographical information is available about Franz Jaenish, and none of the sources could verify his total victory count. The aircraft depicted by this repaint was his personal mount until 15 October 1940, when it was belly landed on the Isle of Wight by Feldwebel Horst Hellriegel after being shot up by RAF fighters - "much to its proper owner's intense annoyance!"
