Semi-Historical: This mission is loosely based upon 2 Gruppe Nachtjagdgeschwader 5 experiences on August 17, 1943. During the summer months 1943 the Luftwaffe began to strengthen the homeland defenses by transferring units from the Russian front and utilizing any unit that it could put into the air to intercept the increasing threat posed by the B-17s. This mission is based upon the use of Me110s night fighters to intercept and attack the B-17 formations on their way to their target. The Americans have mounted a two prone attack on this day. One, a raid on the Messerschmitt plant at Regensburg. Second, an even larger B-17 raid is headed to the Frankfurt or Schweinfurt area. Your task is to turn this B-17 formation back to England.
