AW38 Whitley MkIII by UncleTgt
This is a conversion of Ted Cook's Whitley MkI for CFS 2. It is meant to represent the MkIIIs that were used on leaflet raids during the "Phoney War", & later used for training at OTUs & Parachute Schools. This is a complete aircraft.
The airfile was created by Peperez, & adopts the distinctive "nose-down" attitude in level flight.
The panel is a direct copy of Shessi's Whitley MkV panels, all I've done is to make it WIN 7 friendly.
The sound is aliased to the C-47 Dakota
The textures are:
77 squadron RAF, October 1939
KN-Q was shot down by light AA during a "Nickel" mission dropping leaflets over Germany mid-October 1939. It was 77 Squadron's first loss of the War.
Central Landing School Ringway Manchester 1941
The first GB Paratroops experimented with a variety of ways of exiting aircraft, & determined the least risky way was through the hole in the floor where the useless ventral turret used to be.
The dp includes exhaust effects, & several weapon loads.
Weapons used are:
Shessi's Leaflet weapon from his Whitley MkV.
Bismark13's 250lb bomb from his Beaufighter packages.
Jim Jacobsen's paratroops, resized & recompiled (20% smaller) so they fit inside the Whitley fuselage.
The leaflet & paratroop weapons are included in this pack.
To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.
Thanks to
Ted Cook for a great aircraft, & his willingness to support converting them for use in CFS2.
Shessi for his work at bringing older models up to code, & inventing novel solutions so CFS2 can simulate such a wide range of combat operations.
Peperez for helping with the challenge of making a more accurate airfile.
Bismark13 for his 250lb bomb.
Jim Jacobsen for his innovative solution to the problem of depicting paratroops within CFS2.
Kelticheart for his exhaust effects, & inspiration for the propeller bitmaps.
This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions
