It represents "Typhoon McGoon II" of the 98th Squadron, 13th AF in 1942-3, as flown by Squadron Commander Captain Walter Yates Lucas.March 1943 was the Swan Song for the B17 in the PTO, after they took part in the Battle of the Bismark Sea, General Kenney (5th AF) went to Washington to ask for more B17's. General Arnold denied his request,and even though Kenney appealed direct to Roosevelt, he was told that all B17's were to go to Gen. Ira Eaker's 8th AF in the ETO. Heavys in the PTO were to be B24 Liberators.
