his is a repaint of the excellent Virtavia B-29 to represent Boeing Washington B.1. WF555 (44-62254) of 57 Squadron, RAF based at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire in the summer of 1951. On 29 September 1951, the crew of WF-555 was tasked to fly on a NATO exercise to test western defences. On the way home No. 3 engine developed problems with the constant speed propeller which eventually ran away and sheared off, severely damaging No. 4 engine. 3 of the crew bailed out but the pilot Flt. Lt. Lang, managed to nurse the crippled aircraft as far as Amiens in Northern France where he successfully bellied in on a disused wartime airfield.
