Clawson-Shessi J2F-2A Duck USMC by UncleTgt.
This is a development of Paul Clawson's Grumman J2F Duck for CFS 2. This is a complete aircraft.
The basic model was further developed by Shessi & has various unmirrored and detail enhancements, as well as being made multi-LOD. The model itself has a glossy finish in keeping with the aluminium paint finish used. For the prewar period this model is a rough approximation of the J2F-2A model used by the US Marine Corps. In order to increase the firepower they doubled up the number of flexible guns carried.
The airfile uses the airfile originally posted by Bearcat241 in a thread at SOH, & subsequently modified by me.
The 2D panel & VC panel are WIN 7 friendly. They use a 2D panel background by Don Bodenstedt made for Swingman's Duck for FSX, I extensively altered and resized to make CFS 2 & WIN 7 friendly & then replaced the gauges with CFS2 friendly guages. I have tried to contact Mr. Bodenstedt for his permission to use the panel background, but have had no reply to date.
It includes the seaplane wake effect created by Bill Kestell, & the dp file makes use of kelticheart's exhaust effects.
The texture is:
J2F-2A Duck, VMS-3 USMC, Haiti 1940: In the markings of Marine Scouting Squadron Three as they appeared in 1940 when VMS-3 was stationed in Haiti, hunting U-boats as a unit of the Neutrality Patrol. This was probably the Duck's only instance or service as a first line combat aircraft. This one was flown by the leader of the 3rd (blue) section.
Weapons used are: The Lewis Gun from the Mike Stone Walrus, Bismark 13s Beaufighter Bomb mounts, Baldy's Mk53 Depth Charge, & DBolts US 100lb bomb. All are available at SOH.
To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.
Thanks to:
Paul Clawson for a great aircraft.
Shessi for his work at developing this older model, remapping textures & adding details.
Bill Kestell for the seaplane effects.
Don Bodenstedt for the basic 2D panel background.
Kelticheart for his exhaust effects, & inspiration for the propeller bitmaps.
This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions.
