The P-40E or Hawk 87B was an attempt by Curtiss to clean up and improve the P-40 / Hawk 81 airframe. The armament was increased and pilot armour was added. The net effect of these changes was a negligible increase in speed and a reduction in climb rate when compared to the earlier models. The P-40D/E series was the first of the P-40's to receive a name (Warhawk) as well as a designation.

The P-40E was one of the classic fighter aircraft of WW II. It was never the best performing fighter around, but retained the good handling of its biplane predecessors and often fought and beat superior opposition.

"A P-40 Pilot is a Fighter Pilot."

This is updated from the 2005 version with corrected dimensions.

Updated 20150206: Added Panel Lines and Added US Army Texture. Replaced Screenshots with smaller versions.
