The P-40F was created by installing the new license built Packard V-1650-1 Merlin in the Hawk 87 series airframe. The Merlin engine with its two speed supercharger was considerably heavier than the Allison it replaced but gave much better altitude performance and significantly increased maximum speed at critical altitude.
Although power was increased, it was actually a bit slower than earlier P-40s at low altitude.
The two releases of this project are intended to display two different paint schemes.
Both releases contain the same three paint schemes in the archive.
All paint schemes are generic and do not represent any historical aircraft.
This is the Royal Air Force version.
Let me know what you think of this Aeroplane!
