Dewoitine D.520, Lt Cliquet, Corps France Pomies, Groupe Doret, Tarbes, August 1944
As the Germans had maintained production of the D.520, it was possible for the French Resistance to "capture" - as the Germans had pulled out - a number of these aircraft. They were put to use supporting local actions and ended up on the Atlantic Front as part of the Groupe Saintonge. They kept their original German camouflage with the addition of French markings and "D-Day" style black-and-white stripes.
