DR2 1% Bf109G-2 Yellow 13, Fw. Wilhelm Crinius, 3./JG 53, Tusov, Nr Stalingrad, August 1942. This aircraft, built by WNK in May-June 1942 was one of the first G-2 types delivered to the Eastern Front.
After his mad spree with this aircraft during August and September 1942 near Stalingrad - from his 15th kill on 1st August, to his... 100th on 22nd September! all using this aircraft - Crinius went with I./JG 53 to Tunisia in November. He claimed a further 14 kills in North Africa before being shot down on 13th January 1943 by a Spitfire and taken prisoner.
