DL 1% - Bf109G-6 Gustav (GM-1) W.Nr 441097, Major Ludwig Franzisket, Gruppenkommandeur I./JG 27, Fels am Wagram, February 1944.
Major Franzisket had commanded both 1./JG 27 and 3./JG 27 in the Mediterranean before leaving active operations owing to injuries sustained on 29th October 1942 while bailing out, after being shot down by RAF Spitfires. He subsequently returned to operations in 1943 as commander of I./JG 27. In December 1944, he took command of JG 27, and finally surrendered his unit to US forces in Austria on 8th May 1945. He ended the war with 43 kills all against the Western Allies, including 4 B-17s. He died in 1988 aged 71, having become a Doctor and Professor of biology.
