The immortal DC-3 first flew on December 17, 1935. It was a simple, logical, evolutionary development of the DC-1 and DC-2. New 1,000 hp Pratt & Whitney engines permitted the DC-3 to carry 21 passengers 1,480 miles at 195 mph. The worlds airlines bought 455 DC-3's, and many times that number of surplus C-47's. The amenities of the DC-3 Sleeper Transport were sleeping berths, and an in-flight kitchen that popularized air travel in the United States. My repaint shows her in her glory. Thanks to Manfred Jahn for his great model!
