DR2 1% - Bf109G-4/R3 Gustav (DB605A with GM-1 power boost) 4U+HK, 2(F)./Aufkl.Gr.123, Athens-Tatoi, May 1943 - October 1944
Owing to the extreme rarity of this type of aircraft, it is unfortunately impossible to be certain of the precise letter attributed. 2(F)./123, like all Aufklarungsgruppen, used a number of different aircraft types, and photographs are few. A photograph does show this aircraft with tanks fitted at readiness in Greece, but the code is hidden. 2(F)./123 did use the 4U+()K code; only the letter H is conjectural.
This unit flew long-range tactical reconnaissance all over the Eastern Mediterranean. Further information can be found here: http://www.ww2.dk/air/recon/aufkl123.htm
