DR2 1% Bf109G-6 U4 Gustav W.Nr 15270 Yellow 16, 6./JG 53, Comiso, Italy, June 1943. This aircraft was discovered intact on Comiso airfield when No. 43 Sqn RAF arrived at Comiso on 14th July 1943. Photographs taken after its capture, including one which enables it to be clearly identified as a U4, can be seen on page 322 of Jagdwaffe, Volume 4 Section 4. It was incidentally one of the two decorations on offer in the old 1960s Airfix 1/72 Bf109g kit.
