Pacific Ghosts - F6F-3 Hellcat, USS Yorktown
This Hellcat served with the United States Navy aboard the Essex (Short Hull) Class Carrier, USS Yorktown (CV-10). This is how the aircraft would have appeared during September 1943. The Yorktown was commissioned on April 15, 1943. Originally named Bon Homme Richard, the carrier was renamed to honour CV-5, which sank during the Battle of Midway. In march 1945, she received superficial damage after being hit by a single bomb, but continued in service well after the end of World War II. Repaint of the stock CFS2 Hellcat by Daniel Leahy.
