• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Fairey Firefly Mk1

I've been meaning to 'do' this aircraft for a couple of years now, but always found an excuse not to - namely I was put off by the wingfold shape. Now I've finally got to grips with it and after a couple of horrendous c***-ups have managed what I think is a reasonable effect. For reasons best known to the great god computer I have been unable to make a multi-res model or add a vc ( the parts appeared in the wrong places and were immoveable - who knows ?? ) and I haven't done a panel because there are good ones out there that I couldn't equal.

First off I must say Thank You to the Aeroplane Heaven team for allowing me to use their .air and .dp files ( from their outstanding Firefly Mk5 ). Their Seafire III has long been my favourite aircraft.

Secondly, and once again, thanks to Kelticheart for his prop texture.

Thirdly I'd like to say thank you to the old sea dog himself, Collin, for providing such excellent platforms to fly off, namely his series of aircraft carriers.

As usual the paint work is terrible - but Morton is as we speak preparing a masterpiece.

One final point because the flaps extend as well as droop you have to use the spoiler key rather than the flap key.

All errors are mine. STRICTLY FREEWARE - ONLY AVAILABLE AT SIMOUTHOUSE.

PS My thanks to wolfi and JD Tinballs for simultaneously providing me with the cure for the unsightly shadows that occur at joins. If there are any left it's because I'm too lazy to try for them all.
