This model mod and repaint shows three different Dassault Falcon 20E/HU-25 Guardian atmospheric research aircraft.
Dassault Falcon 20E D-CMET has been extensively modified for use in research by the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The DLR flight facility in Oberpfaffenhofen/Germany primarily uses it for atmospheric and environmental research. International research teams measure trace gases and aerosols directly from on board the aircraft, and they collect air samples for subsequent laboratory analysis.
Dassault Falcon 20GF F-GBTM of SAFIRE has been modified to accommodate a wide variety of instrumentation used for atmospheric and environmental research. SAFIRE is a french operator of environmental research aircraft available to the international scientific community and to the industry. SAFIRE brings together the staff and 3 research aircraft of the CNRS/INSU, Météo-France and the CNES.
Dassault HU-25C Guardian N525NA of NASA. Built in 1981 CN 447. Ex USCG 2129. NASA acquired this aircraft in 2011 to provide a medium altitude, medium range platform for remote sensing instruments and satellite support. Payload accommodations include a nadir camera port, large search windows on each side of the fuselage, a hard point with pylon under each wing, provisions for mounting atmospheric sampling probes on the crown of the fuselage and a nadir drop hatch.
