NN344 was built by Cunliffe-Owen in March 1944. After a short but eventful service life (carrying the name 'Jane' at for least some of it) and seemingly avoiding carrier landing accidents and combat damage, it was wrecked by a forced landing in February 1945 following an engine fire. The pilot, Sub Lt. J.M Sturrock, survived the incident but NN344 was declared unrepairable.
I made a model of this aircraft back in 1973 using the 1/72 scale Airfix Spitfire IX kit. I remember 'cutting and shutting' the nose to shorten it a little, making the arrestor hook fairing from notepaper, adding a dot of sprue for the hook bill, painting the squadron codes and finally hand-writing the serial and 'Royal Navy' with a thin permanent marker. Incidentally, photos of 899's Seafires from mid-late 1944 appear to show a standard 8-inch serial without the 'Royal Navy' wording above.
Installation.
2020: Unzip the download and place the 'FJ_Seafire_III_NN344' folder into your FS2020 Community folder.
2024: Same process, obviously put it in the FS24 Community folder. On my system (MS Store version) it finds the streamed Seafire III with no problem.
