his repaint represents c/n 15-1590, ex-US Navy BuNo 37624, a Lockheed PV-2D Harpoon which was delivered to the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Aviation in 1955, as it would have appeared between 1958 and 1961. The JMSDF operated 12 PV-2 and 5 PV-2D Harpoons between 1955 and 1961, mostly in the role of crew trainer and for ground instruction, as they were replaced in frontline service by P2V-7 Neptunes within a year of their arrival.
