This is a repaint only for the payware Aircraft Factory F4U-1 Corsair. This repaint depicts Goodyear FG-1D Corsair BuNo 92436, registered N72NW, owned by the Olympic Flight Museum based in Olympia, Washington. The aircraft has recently been flown and displayed following a 12-year restoration, and is painted in the markings of VMF-213 "Hellhawks" squadron, circa late 1945/46, which this very aircraft was assigned. The airframe was first purchased in 1958 by Ed Maloney, the founder of the Planes of Fame Air Museum, and then would be purchased, restored to airworthy, and flown by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum from 1974-1998. The aircraft was then purchased by the Olympic Flight Museum and entered a ground-up restoration at Airpower Unlimited beginning in 2002. Having recently emerged this spring following the completion of its restoration, it is one of the most authentic and gorgeous Corsairs flying today. This repaint is based off of the product paint kit, but also includes numerous other texture modifications throughout.
