This glider was a development of the original Go 242. The major difference being that instead of jettisonable undercarriage for take-off and skids for landing it was equipped with a fixed tricycle undercarriage for normal take-off/landing. This was probably because gliders were more often used for transport duties than for assault landings, except in Yugoslavia and Southern France against partisans.
