Biplane used by RAF prewar in Army Co-operation units - being passed to RAuxAF squadrons when war broke out. This a/c was briefly in the spotlight when flying sorties against German force surrounding Calais in May 1940. Although obsolete for front - and even second line service the Hector performed sterling service as a glider tug in the training of glider pilots for the emerging airborne forces.
Finally retired in late 1942; some were sold to the Irish Air Corps.
