This is a revision of Ivan Hsu's Curtiss Hawk III model 68C for CFS 2. This export model was used by the Chinese Air Force.
The model has been tweaked with a blue/green glass colour, & other changes made to model shine & gloss using MDLmat.
A new airfile has been developed, as the aircraft was too fast, & the dp file has also been tweaked.
Contact points have been added to the aircraft.cfg to allow for belly landings. The VC panel instrument clarity has been improved.
Using Ivan's repaint kit as a starting point, the original textures have been recreated, & depict a variety of aircraft of the Chinese Air Force at different times throughout their active service.
The textures supplied with the base aircraft are:
IV-1 Colonel Kao Chi-Hang, CO of the 4th PG, CAF, Hangchow area, China, 14th August 1937
2101 Captain Lee Kuei-Tan, Leader of the 21st PS, 4th PG, CAF, Hangchow area, China, 15th August 1937
2204 Lieutenant Le Yi-Chin, 22nd PS, 4th PG, CAF, Hangchow area, China, 15th August 1937
2401 Captain Liu Chui-Kang, Leader of the 24th PS, 5th PG, CAF, Shanghai, China, 23rd August 1937
2405 unknown pilot of the 24th PS, 5th PG, CAF, Shanghai, China, 3rd September 1937
2503 Lieutenant Mu Fei Chang, 25th PS, 5th PG, CAF, Yangchow, Shanghai, China, 1st September 1937
39 unknown pilot of the 18th PS, CAF, Chonquing, China, May 1940
Sounds are not included. This is to keep the size of the download manageable. As with Ivan's original, the sounds are aliased to the stock A6M2_Zero.
Due to the complex nature of the revisions made, I decided it was better to release as a complete aircraft.
To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.
Thanks to
Ivan Hsu for a great series of multi-LOD aircraft
Allen for his DOSmdlc_2, making shine & mdl size changes possible in WIN7+
Martin Wright for so many useful tools, in this case in particular MDLmat allowing aircraft model material transparency & colour changes
Kelticheart for his inspiration for the propeller bitmaps
