Usio's IJN Hiryu. A modified "Soryu" design, launched Nov 1937, commissioned July 1939. Initially on South China blokade duties and involved in the invasion of French Indo-China, Hiryu was part of the Pearl Harbour attack force, and after return to Japan, to Wake, then the DEI invasion and the Indian Ocean raids on Ceylon. On 4 June 1942, Hiryu sank after sustaining unrepairable damage at the Battle of Midway, from 4 1000lb bombs, delivered by Duantless.
