Usio's IJN Mogami. A Mogami class heavy cruiser, launched Mar 1934, commissioned Jul 1935, rebuilt 1937. Took part in the invasion of the DEI, the battle of Sunda Strait, helping sink HMAS Perth and USS Houston. Involved in a collision at Wake and limped back to Japan for major repairs and rebuild. In Oct 1944 at the Battle of Leyte Gulf, Mogami, heavily damaged by a collision with the cruiser Nachi, cruiser gunfire, and aerial attack was abandoned and scuttled by the destroyer Akebono.
