Usio's IJN Mutsuki. Nameship of the "Mutsuki" class Destroyers, launched july 1925, commissioned Mar 1926. China station in the late 1930s, the Wake Island invasion (both attempts), then to the Solomons, based out of Rabaul. During the Battle of the Eastern Solomons on 25 August 1942, Mutsuki was sunk in an attack by USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress bombers while assisting the damaged transport Kinryu Maru, taking a direct bomb hit in her engineering section.
