Usio's USS Selfridge. A Porter class Destroyer, Selfridge was launched and commissioned in 1936. Based in Pearl Harbour in 1941, Selfridge was in action within 5 mins of the start of the raid. Initially, serving all over the Pacific, Selfridge, was in the landing on Guadacanal, Savo Island, Vella Lavella, and was a regular in "The slot". Heavily damaged in the battle of Vella Lavella, returned to San Diaego for repairs then to Guam and the battle of the Phillipine Sea, Saipan and Eniwetok, then in late 1944 back to Pearl Harbour then New York. Engaged in Atlantic convoys in 1945, decommissioned Oct 1945 and scrapped October 1947
