Grumman Martlet MKI AL247, B Flight, No.802 NAS, Donibristle, February 1941.

Initial delivery colours of AN Blue (Flag Colour) 24, Sea Green 28 and Light Blue 27. The entire first production batch of Martlet MkI aircraft, from AL231 to AL262, were delivered in this rather odd scheme. It is based on an American interpretation of the Tropical Sea Scheme which was adopted in 1938. The initial delivery batch of MkI Martlets, the French order for G-36A aircraft, were also delivered painted this way. Inspection of the last surviving aircraft, AL246, confirms this scheme. Martlets were issued to Nos.804 and 802 NAS in September 1940, and while No.804 repainted their aircraft in the conventional Temperate Sea Scheme, No.802 left their aircraft for some time in the Tropical Sea Scheme. These were replaced in early June 1941 with Martlet MkIIs.

This will of course not change the flight dynamics or damage profile of the aircraft into that of a G-36A Martlet MkI.
