This repaint represents McDonnell Douglas USN F-4J (155505) of VF-151 Vigilantes. In August 1977 VF-151 transitioned from the F-4N to the F-4J. The Vigilantes made three deployments aboard USS Midway to the Indian Ocean during 1979-80. VF-151 was embarked aboard USS Midway in November 1979 when it was rerouted from the Indian Ocean to the Gulf of Oman in response to the seizure of the American Embassy in Teheran. VF-151 also had the distinction of being the last operational F-4 Phantom squadron to operate aboard an aircraft carrier when it flew its F-4S's off the USS Midway for the last time on 24 March 1986.
