Republic F-84F Thunderstreak
Four cold war textures variants for the Freeware Alphasim F-84F.

I have "tampered with" most of the original Alphasim files: textures, MDL, panel, weapons, DP, etc etc..

Installation is straight forward:
· copy all 4 aircraft folders into your CFS2/Aircraft/ installation
· copy everything from the common_aircraft_files folder into all the above 4 aircrafts
· copy Gauges, Objects_dp, Scenedb - folders into your CFS2 install.
· There is no Sound folder included! You must copy a proper jet-sound folder into all 4 aircraft folders.

Historical background:
1. Republic F-84F-45-RE Thunderstreak, Serial 52-6703 of the 55th Fighter-Bomber Squadron.
After the war Wethersfield was closed in 1946. In 1951. It was reopened as a result of the cold war and used until 1970 as a front line USAF Fighter Base. Upgrading of the facilities commenced in 1951, and on 31 May 1952, the 20th Fighter-Bomber Wing took up residence at RAF Wethersfield, being transferred from Langley AFB Virginia.
2. Republic F-84F Thunderstreak, Serial 11759 of the 401st Bomber Wing at Alexandria AFB, Louisiana in 1957.
3. Republic F-84F Thunderstreak, Serial 26834 of the 91st Fighter Squadron, RAF Bentwaters.
F-84Fs served in USAFE mainly for the strike role, armed with tactical nuclear bombs among other weapons.
4. Republic F-84F Thunderstreak 51-9384 Virginia Air National Guard Richmond, 1961.
The aircraft has the Virginia Air National Guard 149th Fighter Squadron's Rebel Flag insignia. In 1992 Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder outlawed the use of the Confederate battle flag, a symbol that many African-American airmen reportly found offensive. The Rebel Flag Insignia had been used on the 149th FS aircraft, from the P-47 through the F-16.

Credits:The basic bare-metal texture is derived from the splendid artwork of Cromhunt.
