Moonlight interception 2024-08-19

This mission is about the defense of Tokyo and its neighbourings against day and night bombings from B-29s of the 20th Air Force from late '44 and early 1945. You are part of the 302nd Kôkûtai based at Atsugi. The 302nd Kôkûtai (Naval Air Group) was one of the most important air-defense units towards the end of the war and its primary mission was to intercept American B-29s attacking Tokyo and other major population centers, both day and night. You will fly as a J1N1 pilot from the 2nd Hikôtai (Squadron), and as such, perform night interception. Even if shooting down a B-29 is a hard feat to achieve some Gekkô pilots performed quite well, even becoming aces.

For this mission I am using different aircrafts from different creators. For the Japanese side I am using Akemi's C6N1-J, J1N1s, J2M3 and Ki-45, Thicko's D4Y2-S, Captain Kurt's A6M5 302 NAG and Peperez' A6M5S-D night fighter (the 302 Kôkûtai flew day and night sorties). I am also including links for the differents skins, DPs and other options from UncleTgt, Sandydog, Morton, Mksystem.
For the US I am only using William Dickens/Bismarck13's AI B-29 with prop textures from Kelticheart and a slightly modified DP (less range for the gunners as they open fire from too far, for me at least). If you have installed my 2 previous missions you should only have to add the planes and some textures.
Nightfighting has always been interesting to me, on both sides of the war. From only visual guidance in hopes to find an ennemy plane to early airborne radars, the famous Schräge Musik, the tactics created to shoot down bombers, etc... so I wanted to give it a try in CFS2. Again this mission is not 100% historically accurate but I hope it will be a good example of a night interception. Feel free to change anything and everything if you want to. Any feedbacks/advices are welcome too.

Please see the Readme for the credits, the installation process and the links of everything needed and some sources I used during the building process.

This mission is freeware and should be available only on SOH.
