Nuremburg Mission This is not a historical recount of any particular Nachtjadg experten. It tries to recount the events of the early infiltration of the Bomber Stream near Radion Beacon Ida. 62 years ago today was the date the Bomber Command suffered its worst defeat. The Germans were able to predict this attack well and were intercepting the stream as early as a few minutes after midnight. Of the 782 planes 97 were lost to the Nachtjadg; the greatest single mission loss of the war. Several weeks earlier Bomber Command had lost over 70 planes on a single raid. The German SN2 radar was effective and the ground command was getting much more effective. A good book to read is the Nuremburg Raid by Matrin Middlebrook.
