The Po River German Defensive at Ferrara, Italy. From 29 August to 31 December 1944, this Final Phase of Operation Olive pushed the German 10th and 14th Armies back across the Po River. This critical operation at Ferrara would speed the Allied Advance only if the Bridges remain intact. A few rookie Luftwaffe pilots in aging Stukas will disagree with your assessment. Early take off is a must to defend our positions. Fresh but inexperienced Mustang and Thunderbolt pilots will provide air support from the West along their lines. This last stand will have our backs to the Alps by Winter. Buy the Reich some time! Get those bridges at all cost.
