P-40E RAAF 3 Squadron Gibbes (Ver 2)
Squadron Leader Bobby Gibbes' 3 Squadron (RAAF) Kittyhawk IA which he flew in mid 1942. Gibbes became a double ace in the North African campaign before returning to Australia to fly Spitfires at Darwin and in the Pacific. Gibbe's trademark noseart appeared on many of his P-40s in North Africa. It shows an Australian kangaroo kicking the butt of a German daschund.
