RAF Rattlesden in the UK was originally built and opened in 1942 as "A" Class bomber airfield. Used by the USAAF Eighth Airforce and designated as Station 126, it was used initially by B-26 Marauders of the 332d BG. Then in late 1943, the 447th BG flying their B-17's arrived. The 447th BG flew over 250 missions out of Station 126 by the end of the hostilities. After the war the 447th BG eventually made it's way back to Florida, finally arriving at MacDill AFB.
