Designed in the early 30?s by Alfred Renard the R-31 was intended to replace the aging Breguet XIX?s. The Belgian airforce ordered 28 machines, followed by an order for another 6 aircraft in 1935. Although badly outdated, they where still in service when the German army stormed into Belgium in 1940. The R-31 was the only Belgian design to see combat action in WW II.
