This is a repaint of the FDGv2 Donationware F4F-4 Wildcat found here:http://www.donationware.net/ F4F-4 BulMo 03508/black 13, flown by Captain Marion E Carl, VMF-223, USMC, Guadalcanal September 1942 With little escort work to be done, and with fre?quent appearances by Japanese carrier-based fighters virtually over their home airfield, the Cactus Air Force enjoyed all the traditional advan?tages of the defender and had a target rich envi?ronment, allowing big scores to be built up. Marine pilots claimed 395 kills between 20 August and 15 November, with VFs-5 and -10 adding 45 more, for the loss of 101 F4Fs. In reality the Japanese lost about 260 aircraft, but even this rep?resented a kilkloss ratio better than 2.5:1, and ensured eventual victory. Only a handful of US pilots were productive, but those who did built up large tallies. Carl, for instance, scored 16.5, to which he later added two while flying F4Us. Thanks to the crew at FDGv2 for providing us this great plane!! Please take the time to read the original read me, that I have included.
