This is a repaint of the FDGv2 Donationware F4F-3 Wildcat found here:http://www.donationware.net/ F4F-3 BuNo 3986/white F-13, flown by Lt Edward H O'Hare, VF-3, USS Lexington, 10 April 1942 Flown by O'Hare for the historic photo mission with Thach on 10 April 1942, F-13 had seen exten?sive action during the Bougaineville campaign. On 20 February, for example, it was flown by both Thach and Lts Noel Gayler and Lee Haynes, with Thach scoring 1.5 kills. The F4F wears standard markings for the period, with red and white rudder stripes aft of the main hinge line only, and with medium sized national insignia. The red rudder stripes and central 'dot' were removed from 15 May 1942, while white codes were more slowly replaced by black from late 1941. It was lost while serving with VF-2 at Coral Sea.
