This is a repaint of the FDGv2 Donationware F4F-3 Wildcat found here:http://www.donationware.net/ F4F-3 BuNo 4031/white F-15, flown by Lt Edward H ('Butch') O'Hare VF-3, USS Lexington, 20 February 1942 'Butch' O'Hare claimed five Mitsubishi G4M1 Model 11 'Bettys' of the 4th Air Group Air Striking Force during the Battle of Bougainville, all in a sin?gle mission and while flying this aircraft, with a sixth claimed as a probable. O'Hare gained two more kills in F6Fs but was killed in action in November 1943. VF-3 scored some 36 kills with the Wildcat at Bougainville and Midway. This historic aircraft had initially served with VMF-211 and sur?vived the devastating attack on Oahu. After service with VF-3, it was passed to VF-2 and was one of only six F4Fs from VF-2 to survive the Coral Sea battle, taking refuge on the Yorktown. It was then passed to VF-42 and ended its days on 29 July 1944 when a pilot from MAG-23 wrote it off. Thanks to the crew at FDGv2 for providing us this great plane!! Please take the time to read the original read me, that I have included.
