This is a repaint of the FDGv2 Donationware F4F-4 Wildcat found here:http://www.donationware.net/ F4F-4 BuNo 5075/black 20, flown by Machinist Donald Eugene Runyon, VF-6, USS Enterprise, 24 August 1942 One of the US Navy's top-scoring enlisted Naval Aviation Pilots (NAPs), and originally one of the 16 'Fighting Chiefs' of VF-2, Don Runyon scored eight kills with VF-6. He added three more to this tally after his promotion to Lt(jg) and service with VF-18. This aircraft was built at Long Island and delivered to the Navy on 10 February 1942, being assigned to VF-6 on 1 April. It participated in the Tokyo Raid and the Battle of Midway, and was transferred to VF-5 on 25 August, with whom it became black 38. It was destroyed by enemy bombing at Henderson Field on 15 October. The aircraft carries the LSO stripe on the port side of the fin, intended to allow Landing Signal Officers to determine the F4F's attitude on approach.
