8th AF Skins for the FDG2 Donationware B17E
Textures for the FDG2 Donationware B17E By Sopwith Chameleon Representing two Aircraft from the 97th BG which made the first Daylight Raid on Occupied Europe by the 8th AF, when they attacked the Marshelling Yards in Rouen, France on August 17th, 1942. "Yankee Doodle" Carried Gen. Ira C Eaker on this Historic Raid, and Sgt Kent L West became the first American Air Gunner to cliam a "Kill" The Raid was escorted by 2 Squadrons of RAF Spitfires, no Aircraft were lost. NOTE The Aircraft were re-possessed Machines meant originally for the RAF, and were finished in Boeing's versions of RAF Dark Green/Dark Earth/Azure Blue Day Bomber Colours - they should carry "U.S. ARMY" Lettering under the Wings, but the Texture Mapping will not allow this.
