Alpha Hamden Skin Pack
HP HAMPDEN SKIN PACK By SopwithChameleon Replacement Textures for Alphasim's Freeware HP Hampden (available from http://www.alphasim.co.uk/) Revised CFG & DP included. Textures included are for Hampden MKI S/N L 4034 the first Production Hampden delivered to Central Flying School, Upavon in August 1938. Guy Gibson's Hampden I while flying with 44 SQN in 1940/41. Gibson bypassed the Authorities and got his armorers to double the defensive armament (to two Vickers K Guns, in both Dorsal and Ventral positions) on his Squadron's planes. This later became the Standard Fit for all Hampdens. The 83 SQN Hampden in which F/Sgt John Hannah won his VC. Hannah was the WOP/AG in this Aircraft, piloted by Canadian P/O C A Connor on an attack on the invasion barges in Antwerp on September 15th 1940. The Aircraft was hit by Flack over the Target, and the Radio Compartment set ablaze. The Bomb Aimer & Navigator Baled out, but Hannah beat out the Flames with his Log Book & Hands, even though the Aluminium Floor of his Compartment was melting in the Heat. (Because of the Hampden's Narrow Fuselage, movement was very restricted) Eventually he managed to free the communicatiing door which had jammed due to the Heat, to get an extinguisher, and put out the fires. The navigator's Maps had been destryed by the fire, but in spite of his burns, he managed to help Connor bring the Bomber Home to a safe Landing.
