This is a repaint of Stuart Green's SPAD VII

French Air Service SPAD VII C.1 S1461, flown by 2nd Lt. Rene Fonck. SPA 103, Summer 1917. Braggart, show-off and superb pilot, Ren Paul Fonck was one of the few great aces to live through the war, dying at age 59 in 1953. Officially credited with 75 kills (the highest ranking allied pilot), he claimed to have shot down at least 127. Famous for conserving his ammunition, he used his flying skills to get so close to the target that he could make a killing shot on the first pass. This aircraft was one of his first mounts, and carries the distinctive stork insignia of SPA 103 (part of Groupe de Combat 12, "Les Cicognes").
