Spitfire MkIa P9398 KL-B, PO Alan Deere, No.54 Sqn RAF, Hornchurch, July 1940.
It is probable that owing to the unavailability of the new "Sky" colour introduced on fighters on 6th June 1940,
the underside of this aircraft was painted rather with BS381 (1930) No16 Eau-de-Nil. This shade was commonly
referred to as "Duck Egg Green". Underwing roundels were reintroduced for Home-based day fighters from 11th August 1940.
